Marin Civic Center
The Marin County Civic Center is definitely one of the most notable architectural landmarks here in Marin County. It is designated as a state and national historic landmark and is a must see for tourists as well as locals. This distinctive building was designed by the world renowned architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. This massive project started in 1957 and was in progress until the early 1960’s.
The Civic Center was built in order to create one location where all county services for Marin could be “housed”. It serves as a government building and has a Hall of Justice, where the civil and criminal courtrooms are located, as well as an administrative building where all of Marin County's supervisors, financial departments and public works departments are located.Although the actual purpose of the Civic Center is not all that interesting, the architecture and history that goes along with it is.

Inside the center
The Marin Civic Center is just a short 5 to 10 minute drive from campus. There are also bus routes that can take you directly there. The close proximity to the Dominican University campus makes this gem a must see for all students. Visiting the Marin Civic Center is free of charge, unless you decide to take a docent led tour, in which the cost is $5 for students and $10 for adults. Either way, the price is very low for getting to see everything this beautiful building has to offer. There are docent led tours led every Wednesday and Friday at 10:30am. You can also feel free to take a self guided or virtual tour. When you visit, make sure you check out the art gallery that is located on the first and third floors.
