I.D.E.S.S.T. Portuguese Center
The IDESST Sausalito Portuguese Cultural Center (formerly IDESST Sausalito Portuguese Hall) was established in Sausalito, California in 1888 as a focal point for Portuguese culture and traditions in Marin County. The Mission of the center has several points they plan to uphold including: to preserve the veneration and celebration of the Holy Ghost, to preserve and promote Portuguese
culture and values, to provide educational, charitable and religious activities consistent therewith, to provide a comfortable and relaxing social meeting place for IDESST members, and, to create and maintain an environment that is fun and rewarding for the IDESST Portuguese Cultural Center volunteers; and to do all of this while emphasizing quality over quantity.
The IDESST Portuguese center is a great place if you are interested in learning about the Portuguese culture. The venue is open to viewing and often hosts events, potlucks, and a variety of classes. Taking a look around or showing up to an event is free of charge, and renting or purchasing food/beverage is variable based on your needs. Whether it is just a stop on your trip home or an all-night event, the IDESST center is worth checking out.
