Marin Headlands

Marin Headlands offers dazzling views over San Francisco and the Pacific Ocean from a multitude of viewpoints and access to exclusive ex-military sights. The highlights around the Headlands includes Hawk Hill, the Point Bonita Lighthouse, Rodeo Beach, and Fort Baker.

Hawk Hill is said to have the world’s best view over the Golden Gate Bridge. There are multiple parking areas at the base of Hawk Hill and if you want an even higher vantage point, head through the tunnel across from the parking that leads to various hiking trails that will lead you to the top.

The Point Bonita Lighthouse is slightly further down the road from Hawk Hill and just a quick half mile walk to the functioning lighthouse at the point. To get into the lighthouse, you have to walk through a tunnel and cross a small bridge, which swings, so only two people are allowed on the bridge at a time! To make sure the lighthouse is open, call (415) 331-1540.

A little further down the winding road, past more hiking trails, is Rodeo Beach. This is a dog-friendly beach, so it’s a great place to see some furry friends!

Finally, Fort Baker, which is located on the east side of the Golden Gate Bridge and is the oldest fort in Marin Headlands! It offers a unique view of the bridge and the Pacific Ocean. It is a 10-acre ground, and is perfect for a quiet day near the ocean, and the perfect spot for a picnic!
